Some Viewing Recommendations
Reed, Rich, and I watched The Fall Guy tonight, and it was quite fun. It's definitely more of an action film than romance or comedy, and I think the marketing was off for this one, but we all liked it. (I kind of wish we'd waited to watch this with my parents because it was quite wholesome.)
Rich and I started watching Trying on Apple TV, and he has no interest in it so I'm watching it myself now, but I really like it. It's sweet and moving, and the protagonists are very lovable. In loosely related news, Rich's lack of interest in this show reassures me of his lack of interest in having children (cause I'm not gonna have them at this point, amiright???)
I've been rewatching Normal People with Rich (who is watching it for the first time), and, again, Rich isn't really interested in it, but I'm loving it. It's one of the sexiest shows that I've ever watched--maybe because my kink is sex that is very tender and loving.
Rich, Reed, and I have been watching The New Girl as our lunch show on the weekends. Yes, that's right. We only watch it while we're eating lunch on the weekends. We're almost finished with it, and we all hate Jess. She is the worst.
Rich and I are watching HACKS season 3, and it might be the most brilliant show that I've ever seen, though I thought the same thing while watching Six Feet Under. HBO still has the magic.
Rich and I have been binge watching The Big Door Prize on Apple TV, and it isn't, like, the best show that I've ever seen, but it's very solid. (Rich likes it more than me because he's really into science fictiony stuff.)
LOOT on Apple TV is cute but unmemorable. The protagonist, who is played by Maya Rudolph, comes off as charming but one-dimensional. There is potential in this show, but it only surfaces in moments.
The Kardashians on HULU is as boring as ever (I never watched the OG show, and maybe I just should because the HULU version is about as entertaining as a nap in an airport). The lengths that the women in that family will go to in order to forgive men is WILD.
I am now obsessed with Vanderpump Rules, even though I didn't start watching until Scandoval. Katie Maloney is my favorite, and she looks so hot in the reunion. Like, she is smoking! Lala is the definition of delulu. Maybe we could call it deLala jkjk. I'm attracted to Tom Schwartz, and that's how I know that he's a narcissist.
Rich and I binge watched Severance a year or so ago, and I think it's probably our #1 show that we've loved as a couple. Now we're gearing up to watch season 1 again with Reed (in anticipation of Season 2), and I can't wait. Reed watched the first couple of episodes of Severance with his dad, and at the time, he had shows that he watched with his dad, and shows that he watched with me. I always tried to be respectful and not poach his dad's shows, but he just doesn't really go to his dad's anymore, and I guess that’s karma.
I am anxiously awaiting Season 3 of Somebody Somewhere. It might be the most brilliant show I've ever seen, which I realize that I also said about HACKS and Six Feet Under. HBO still has the magic! My father grew up in Kansas and went to college in Manhattan, so the show feels familiar. I always loved visiting Kansas when I was a kid because it was such a big, wide open, and magical place where the people were friendly and kind. It wasn’t the prettiest, but the magic was in the community. My great uncle Melvin I (who I loved visiting on his farm) took this video, and it’s a wild ride.
Rich's comfort watch after work is Wheel Of Fortune. For Christmas, I bought him a "I'm a Wheel Watcher" t-shirt that I got straight from their website, and he is obviously embarrassed to wear it but puts it on when he thinks his hoody will be zipped up all day anyway (he loves me!) Rich has sucked me into the Wheeliverse with him, but this is Pat Sajak's last year as the host, and after this, Ryan Seacrest takes over, so this is our terminal year with the Wheeliverse.
RIP PAT SAJAK'S WHEEL OF FORTUNE.
